Feng Shui Bathroom
Feng Shui for the bathroom may seem a little odd. On the contrary, applying Feng Shui to your bathroom can have a great impact on your life. The Feng Shui element Water is represented in the bathroom by the literal water that runs through it. Keep in mind that you should always have the Water element present in other parts of the home, too. Feng Shui can be applied to existing bathrooms to make the positive energy, or chi, in a home greater. If you are building a home you can use Feng Shui principles to build a bathroom that is harmonious with the rest of the home.
As always with Feng Shui, overall and thorough cleanliness is a must. The great thing about starting with cleanliness is that it is generally easy and costs almost nothing to do. Because bathrooms can develop odors for obvious reasons, ventilation is key. If you have an existing bathroom, try simply cracking the window during the day to let in fresh air. If you are designing a bathroom to be built, be sure to incorporate a ventilation system.
Just like with all other spaces, lighting is an important part of the Feng Shui bathroom. Be sure to incorporate windows when designing and building new bathrooms. Refer to the bagua and the Feng Shui compass when deciding where to place the windows. Install bright, but not harsh, lights above the mirror.
Mirrors are also an important part of the Feng Shui bathroom. According to Feng Shui, the mirrors reflect the energy, or the chi. Because of the reflection, the energy is passed throughout the room continuously. Mirrors also keep the energy, or chi, moving throughout the rest of the home or office. Never place mirrors across the room facing each other. This causes negative energy, which is unfavorable.
If you are currently building or designing your Feng Shui bathroom, you will be able to place your bathroom in the proper place. Do not place your bathroom in the center of the home or office. When the center of the home is the bathroom, it can cause health problems for the inhabitants. It is bad Feng Shui to have the bathroom in the center of your space. If you happen to have a bathroom in the center of your home, place a large mirror on the inside of the bathroom door. This will help protect the penetration of negative energy. Keep the bathroom door closed at all times. Also keep the toilet seat and lid down so that not to let good Feng Shui to escape.
As far as colors go for the Feng Shui bathroom, the walls should be colors from nature. The colors should be soothing and calming, such as creams, light browns, pale grays, and light blues. All of these colors are easy on the eyes and are soft. Because red is the symbol of protection in the Chinese culture, it is good to have a red element, such as a rug, to bring protection to your wealth. Black can also give the same affects.
